Thailand Hosts United Nations Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Conference
Thailand will be the host country for the eleventh United Nations Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Conference, to be held in Bangkok from April 25, 2005 (2548). The United Nations holds this conference every five years; the next conference will celebrate its 50th anniversary. Approximately one hundred thirty-five countries worldwide participated in the conference. The main topics included measures to combat transnational organized crime, economic crime, including money laundering, urban crime, and computer crime. In preparation for the conference, the Cabinet ordered the establishment of a National Committee, assigning responsibility to the Office of the Attorney General.
